Fishing 3/15/08

Took Timmy on his first fishing trip. He's nine. He was excited to go.

The weather was wet and chilly. Made for difficult fishing. Timmy had a good rainsuit but his hands were getting cold making it difficult to work the rod.

Grandpa was helping him with the casting. Timmy hooked the only fish of the day around 9 or 10 am. It was a nice sized 2.13 lb smallmouth. I helped him steady the rod with his hurt hand and he cranked and cranked until Grandpa netted the catch. I think we were more excited than he was due to cold hands and feet. He hasn't quite learned how to keep body parts warm when staying outdoors for long periods of time.

Around 11 it began to thunder and lightening was visible. We headed back to the cabin. After lunch the sky was clear and blue. We headed for the lake - only to get rained out a few hours later. No more fish were caught.

Charlie served up his traditional first-class steaks and sweet potatos. And the day was complete.

Pictures are forthcoming.
